Do you know your strengths?
Research shows that people who are aware of their strengths, and use them every day, experience 18x higher life satisfaction than those who don’t.
That number is nothing to sneeze at.
This means that knowing and utilizing our strengths is a more effective prescription for fulfillment than just about anything else – including winning the lottery (which produces a net zero increase in long term happiness).
So I’m delighted to share a powerful, free resource that will set you on the path to discovering your strengths.
Click the link below to navigate to the VIA (Values in Action) survey, a free assessment tool developed by UPenn’s positive psychology team. It’s been robustly validated since its release almost 20 years ago, and has racked up over 600 academic citations for its reliability.

You’ll probably have to create a new username and go through a couple of clicks to find it. Make sure you’re on the assessment called “VIA Survey of Character Strengths.” It takes most people about 20 minutes to complete.
Once you get your results, make sure to take a screenshot or copy/paste your results somewhere for easy reference.
Then, take a few minutes to reflect on your top 5 strengths:
-How are these strengths showing up in my life currently?
-How often do I have a chance to exercise these strengths?
-What’s one thing I could do today to exercise one of these strengths?
The more time you spend reflecting on and concretizing these strengths in your life, the more powerful the effect is. Talking it out with someone else enhances this even further.
Get after it. And feel free to reply back with your top 5 strengths – I’d love to see what yours are.
